Restaurants and cafés

Web design for restaurants and cafés.

Hungry people decide fast. I build websites for cafés, restaurants, bars and venues that show the food, the vibe, the hours and how to book, all in a layout that’s quick on a phone and easy for your team to update.

What it needs

What the site needs.

  • Menu as real text, not a PDF
  • Opening hours and location near the top
  • Booking or order button that works on mobile
  • Photos that show the place and the food
  • An events or specials page that’s easy to update
  • Google Business Profile that matches the website

02

The questions people ask before they walk in

Are you open now? Where exactly are you? Can I see the menu? Do I need to book? Is there parking, a kids’ menu, a vegan option? Most hospitality searches are answered in seconds by whatever is easiest to find, and that’s often your Google listing followed by your website.

I build the website so those answers are on the first screen: hours, address area, a menu people can read without downloading anything, and a clear booking or order button.

03

A menu that works as a web page

A PDF menu is awkward on a phone and invisible to Google. I put your menu on the page as real text, organised by section and easy to update when the specials change. Dietary tags and notes help customers, and it gives search engines something to read.

If you take bookings or online orders, I link the site to the system you already use, or set up Wix’s restaurant tools where that suits you better.

04

Events, bands and venue nights

For venues, the site is also a noticeboard. I built the website for Purr, a Melbourne club-night brand, with pages for events, DJs and past events, an over-18 entry screen, a members sign-up and sponsor contact. The design matched the energy of the nights. Venues and cafés with regular events, trivia or live music need a page that’s easy to keep current.

05

Neighbourhood strips and precincts

Cafés and restaurants often sit inside a local strip. I built the Union Road site in Ascot Vale as a hub for the shops, cafés and services on that street, with news, events and a newsletter sign-up. If you’re part of a trader group or precinct, a shared site can help everyone get found.

06

Photos that sell the food and the room

Good photography does more than any layout trick. A handful of bright, honest photos of your best dishes, your space and your team will carry the site. If your current shots are dark or out of date, it’s worth a short shoot, and I can advise on what to capture.

I size and compress everything for mobile, so the images look great without slowing the page down, which matters when someone is standing on the footpath deciding where to eat.

Questions

Good to know.

Can customers book a table through the website?

Yes. I can link to your current booking system or set up a booking option on Wix, whichever suits how you run the venue.

Can I update the menu myself?

Yes. The menu sits on the page as text, so you can change items and specials directly in Wix without calling a developer.

Can you add online ordering?

Wix has online ordering tools for restaurants, and I can also link out to a delivery or ordering platform you already use. We’d talk through which fits your setup.

Do you work with hospitality businesses outside Melbourne?

Yes. I’m based in Essendon and work across Australia, with calls, video and a shared preview link.
