Retail and e-commerce

Web design for retail and e-commerce.

Selling online comes down to a few things: products that are easy to browse, pages that answer questions and a checkout that doesn’t put people off. I build shops on Wix Stores and help businesses move across from older setups, including WooCommerce.

What it needs

What the site needs.

  • Clear collections and product pages
  • Fast mobile layouts
  • Payments such as Stripe, PayPal and Afterpay
  • Delivery and returns information before checkout
  • Help loading your first products
  • Redirects if you’re moving from another platform

02

Make it easy to browse and easy to buy

A good online shop gets people to the right product in a couple of taps. That means clear collections, sensible filters, product photos that load quickly and descriptions that answer the questions customers would ask in a physical shop: size, materials, delivery time, returns.

I design the shop around how your customers browse. A gift business and a wine brand need very different layouts, and I build for the one you actually run.

03

Payments, delivery and trust

Wix Stores supports popular payment options, and Stripe, PayPal and Afterpay can be set up depending on your business. Delivery and returns information should be easy to find before checkout, not hidden in a footer, because unanswered questions are a common reason people leave a cart.

I also help load your first products and collections so the store launches properly stocked, instead of leaving you with an empty shell and a long weekend of data entry.

04

Brand-led shops

I designed and built the website for Wine in a Can (Barokes Wines), a canned-wine brand. It includes an age-verification entry screen, an online shop with a product range and add-to-cart, pages for the wines, technology and news, and a wine club. The design is bright and lifestyle-led to match the brand.

05

Thinking of leaving WooCommerce?

WooCommerce is capable, but it comes with plugins, updates, hosting and security to look after. Some owners are happy with that. Others would rather have inventory, orders and payments in one managed dashboard. If that’s you, I can talk through what moving to Wix Stores involves, how your product data and old web addresses are handled and whether it’s the right call. If it isn’t, I’ll tell you.

06

Product data is the slow part

The design is the fun bit, but a shop lives on its product information: names, descriptions, photos, sizes, stock and shipping details. If that’s patchy, the best layout in the world won’t sell much.

Before we build, I’ll look at what you have, suggest a sensible structure for collections and help load your first products. You decide how much you want to hand over and how much you’d like to learn to do yourself.
